The fifth annual Manitoba Magazine Awards (Maggies) were held on September 26. Prairie Fire took home the most awards of any magazine – four – with a clean sweep of the Art & Literary section.Winner in the fiction category was “Frida Walks” by Alice Zorn (33.2); in poetry, “Plastic Bucket” by Louise Carson (33.1); in creative non-fiction, “Maxime’s” by Lorri Neilsen Glenn (33.2); and for best single issue, art & literary, Volume 33, No. 3: “The Visionary Art of Sharon Butala.” Accepting the last of these awards is John Bluethner, president of Prairie Fire Press.
