Like other literary magazines across Canada, Prairie Fire serves as a meeting place where writers and readers join to create a Canadian literary identity, engaging in a dialogue that is both immediate and accessible. Without literary magazines, emerging writers would have far fewer opportunities to launch their careers.
As you may know, revenues from subscriptions hardly begin to cover the cost of producing a magazine, and that is why we approach our readers, writers and friends for support.
In addition to supporting Prairie Fire magazine, your donations help us serve the community in other ways.
- Prairie Fire’s much sought-after student practicum in publishing program.
- Bringing the Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Award winner to THIN AIR in September to receive the award.
- Special projects such as Boreality, a collaboration between the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Prairie Fire and four Winnipeg-based artists.
- The Manitoba Anne Szumigalski Memorial Scholarship, which annually sends one writer to attend the Sage Hill Writing Experience in Saskatchewan.
- Launches and workshops.
We will reward your generosity with a charitable tax receipt, a mention on our donor page for one year, and our renewed commitment to provide you with captivating writing of the highest quality far into the future!
