With this issue, Prairie Fire marks the 100th anniversary of some women’s right to vote in Manitoba (a right that would be inexcusably denied to First Nations women for another 36 years). This milestone will be commemorated with a number of short pieces by Manitoba women. The issue will also include fiction by Alanna Marie […]
Our next issue is a 40th-anniversary celebration of the French-language publishing house Les Éditions du Blé. It will feature writing, in original French and in English translation, by thirteen Franco-Canadian writers.
This issue will feature Gregory Scofield’s Anne Szumigalski Memorial Lecture, delivered in Winnipeg earlier this year, in addition to fiction by Carousel Calvo, Trevor Corkum, Libby King and H.L. Paul; poetry by Steven Artelle, Jacob Lee Bachinger, Laura Cok, Michael Dunwoody, Patrick Friesen and Rebekah Rempel; and a memoir by Bernice Friesen.
The summer issue features the wonderful winning entries of our 2014 writing contests, along with an exciting mix of fiction, poetry and non-fiction that has come our way through the regular channels.
The spring issue will feature fiction by Catherine Brunet, Paulo Da Costa, Alex Leslie and Leanne Lieberman; poetry by Byrna Barclay, Matthew Gwathmey, Bill Howell, Sally Ito, Andrew Kozma, Armand Garnet Ruffo, Douglas Burnet Smith, Stephanie Warner and Daryl Whetter; and non-fiction by Souvankham Thammavongsa.
